SEO 3.0 Report

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I hope all is well with each of you, and you’re making solid on the front. This is just a quick little note that I’m working on a to replace the Primer called “SEO 3.0: Business Implications” that will cover things such as social media optimization and generating hoards of traffic to your site. Since Google tweaked their algorithm to index blog comments differently (see link to video below), changing a few things here and there within your campaign may be necessary.

Freeline Report discussing changes in Google algorithm.

Look for the 3.0 to come out later in the week or early next week at the latest. If you are a subscriber to our mailing list, you’ll get a link to the right in your inbox so there is nothing you’ll need to do. If you’re not a subscriber, this would be a great time to become one! This is already 56 pages long and is packed with statistics, overviews, and how-to . Not to be a honk, but I’d enjoy reading it. :)

SEO as a Reputation Management Tool

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

During my chat with Andy Beal (1/17/2008) on The Bauer Pauer Hauer, we touched on as a potential reputation management tool. This is another huge benefit of understanding and being able to apply organic search engine optimization. Take a listen in on the podcast below, and please share your thoughts and opinions with us.  was a great guest, and we had a lot of fun.

Ponder this–if you had something negative about you or your company appearing high within search engine results, a way to flush that negativity out would be to get additional pages to outrank the negative results and minimize their impact. So SEO can serve as a tool in addition to lead generation, awareness building, and an increase in revenue.

SEO Training Videos

Just a little update on The Bible program development process.  The are still being recorded and produced . . . I tend to be a little too much of a perfectionist which halts production sometimes so I apologize to all of you for that.

I’ve gotten some e-mails lately asking when the final product will be available so I thought I’d share the answer publicly.

Do you have a question about The Bible or ?  E-mail them to questions@the--bible.com or post them in the comment section below this post or in the questions section of our SEO Forum.  There are numerous ways to get your questions answered without having to leave this site so I hope you’ll participate with us.  :)

SMB Consulting’s Current Search Rankings

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I just got done doing a little “inventory” of our main consulting site’s rakings (http://smbconsultinginc.com), and we’re moving up the charts and maintaining some valuable positions.

consulting–rank #3 (Google) of 25,200,000 competing pages; #8 (Yahoo) of 1,450,000,000 (that’s BILLION!)

Marketng consulting–rank #8 (Google) of 16,500,000 competing pages; #6 (Yahoo) of 661,000,000

We started out optimizing the site for terms such as “ consulting Louisville” and “small consulting services,” but the broader (and more competitive) terms have driven more traffic our way and increased awareness much better.  While we rank very well for the “longer tail” terms we set out to rank well in the beginning, the broader terms provide a much better of of the knowledge we’re sharing in The Bible.

If you want to rank well, our methods must work pretty well based on the results shared above.  These aren’t overnight wonders either–it’s taken awhile to get here (8 months+), and we’ve been consistently climbing for the last three months so they are fundamenally sound (white hat).

Why share this information you might ask?  Most people tend to say “show me some results” before they start digging deeper when evaluating firms or material.
